Quantum CAD first for in-house rapid prototyping
In a first for the UK’s specialist PCB design services sector, Quantum CAD today announces its new in-house rapid prototyping service, providing unparalleled prototype turn-around times for its clients across Europe.

Quantum CAD has identified the biggest cause of development schedule slippages as the time taken to produce, populate and test prototype PCBs. These slippages are often due to having to deal with third party PCB manufacturers and fit into their production schedules.
Quantum CAD offers rapid prototyping
In its bid to eliminate these project slippages and further establish its position at the forefront of PCB design services, the company has invested substantially in the latest technology to provide a complete prototype and small-batch in-house manufacturing capability. This technology provides Quantum CAD with the UK’s first in-house end-to-end PCB service, from electronic design through PCB design to production of finished boards.

Quantum CAD has invested in the ProtoMat S62 System from LPKF of Germany - the fastest, most accurate and comprehensive rapid prototyping system available. This system has a full rapid prototyping capability, including multilayer bare board manufacture incorporating through-hole and SMD technologies, and full SMD pick and place assembly. Quantum CAD has invested in a range of optional extras to further enhance the accuracy of the system, including a vacuum table and a vision system.

“The ProtoMat system will enable us to slash turn-around times and ensure that all aspects of each design project will, for the first time, remain within our direct control, giving our clients a faster and more predictable service,” comments Steve Jones, Quantum CAD’s Managing Director.

Quantum CAD, established in 1994, is one of the UK’s leading specialist PCB design companies, with clients from all parts of the UK and Europe. Steve Jones adds, “this investment, together with our investment in our web-linked design process, means we can offer a rapid and seamless design solution to our customers wherever they are based.”
